Redmond is a twenty-minute drive up Highway 97 from Bend, which makes it effectively a same-day service area for us. We are there often enough that it does not feel like a trip.

Redmond's economy looks different from Bend's, and the technology problems follow. Where Bend skews toward professional services and hospitality, Redmond is where Central Oregon does light industrial work — manufacturing, fabrication, distribution, and a substantial aviation sector clustered around Roberts Field, the region's commercial airport.
